Pride Softball Parent, Family, and Fans Code of Conduct Agreement

Objective
The Pride Softball organization aims to provide a wholesome atmosphere for children to engage in healthy athletic competition and to build character in our young adults through sportsmanship, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good citizenship.

Expectations and Responsibilities

  1. Parental Conduct
    • Coaching: Parents must not coach their children from the stands. The coach and player on the field have specific signs or scenarios planned. Interfering with the coach’s instruction is prohibited.
    • Language: Abusive and foul language is strictly prohibited.
    • Practice: Parents agree to emphasize skill development with their daughter and practice softball weekly.
    • Guest Behavior: Parents are responsible for the conduct of their guests.
    • Attendance: This elite travel program requires players to attend all practices, tournaments, scrimmages, and fundraisers at designated times.
    • Support: Parents should reinforce and remind their daughters to honor the player’s code of conduct.
    • Game Conduct: Parents will ensure their daughters remain in the dugout or on the bench when not in the game and cheer for their teammates.
    • Fun and Development: Parents will remember that children participate in sports to have fun, and the game is for youths, not adults.
    • Injury Notification: Parents will inform coaches of any ailment, injury, or physical disability that may affect the safety of their child or others.
    • Issue Resolution: Parents must wait 24 to 48 hours after an incident before contacting coaches about any concerns. Discussions should not occur during practice, games, or tournaments.
    • Respect: Parents will respect officials and their authority during games. Discussions or confrontations with the coaching staff immediately after the game are prohibited.
    • Rules and Policies: Parents will learn and follow the team and game rules.
    • Positive Reinforcement: Parents will praise their children for competing fairly and trying hard, regardless of the game’s outcome.
    • Conflict Resolution: Parents will teach their children to resolve conflicts without hostility, verbal abuse, or violence.
    • Respect for Property: Parents will respect the property and equipment used at sports facilities.
    • Substance Use: No alcohol or drug use is allowed at any games, scrimmages, or practices.
    • Dugout Conduct: Parents will not enter the dugout unless called by the coaching staff.
    • Withdrawal: Parents may withdraw their player from the team at any time upon written notice to the Head Coach. No fees will be refunded. All equipment must be returned.
    • Playing Time: Parents are not to contact coaches regarding their child’s playing time, batting order placement, or starting/substitute status. All discussions about playing time should be handled respectfully and according to team protocols.
    • Respect for All: Parents will not speak negatively about their child, any other child, team coaches, or other parents. Constructive criticism should be handled privately and positively.
  2. Player Code of Conduct
    • Commitment: Players must attend all practices, scrimmages, games, and functions unless excused by the head coach.
    • Game Conduct: Players must stay in the dugout or on the bench during games and cheer for their teammates.
    • Uniform: Players must wear their entire uniform properly at all times during games.
    • Equipment: Players must keep track of their equipment.
    • Sportsmanship: Players must not bully teammates or players from other teams, either in person or online.
    • Attention: Players must pay attention to the game and follow the base coaches’ instructions.
    • Respect: Players must not use foul language, physical aggression, or uncooperative behavior towards coaches, officials, or teammates.
    • Consequences: Non-compliance will result in penalties such as reduced playing time, removal from the game, or dismissal from the team.
